From a very young age, Lara Gressley knew she wanted to be an attorney. The youngest of six children, Lara's parents raised her to speak the truth and stand her ground.
Lara graduated University of California with high honors and Santa Clara University Law School, where she earned national recognition, and the coveted Witkin Award for Constitutional Law. Lara also studied International Law at Oxford University in England.
Lara began her career at Legal Aid helping poor families through the legal process. Later, Lara learned the complexities of our County's legal system working for the Riverside County Counsel and the Riverside County Public Defender. As a court appointed attorney, Lara has tried serious and violent felony cases to verdict.
In private practice and as an appellate attorney, Lara has spent well over a decade fighting for justice. Her cases have been heard before the California State Supreme Court, and she has worked to prepare cases for the United States Supreme Court. Because of her long success and expertise, Lara serves on and lectures for prestigious legal panels and organizations, training and advising attorneys across the State about the nuances of criminal trial and appellate work. Lara also co-wrote California state legislation that was passed in 2012.
Throughout her distinguished legal career, one principle has remained constant for Lara: an utmost respect and undying passion for the law. As a wife and mother, Lara understands what is most important to Riverside County residents - their vital protection from crime, especially violent and gun crimes.
A creative attorney and fiscal conservative, Lara wants to share her vision of the District Attorney's office with all of our families and communities. In short, she will fight for all of us to get justice before the law.
